Alpha Gamma Delta’s philanthropic focus is Fighting Hunger. Food insecurity affects every race, age and community, including the communities where we are placed. That is why we want to be a part of the solution. Partnering with national and local organizations, we are able to make an impact on our communities. We are committed to contributing to the world’s work as our Purpose calls us to do. As a sisterhood, we work together to make a greater impact.
Our impact is enhanced through fundraising for the Alpha Gamma Delta Foundation. They provide fighting hunger grants to various organizations that are doing their part in their local community to fight hunger. Each Alpha Gamma Delta member has her own individual interests, pursuits and dreams. Joining a sorority is making the choice to share and experience these things together. Our chapter prides itself in the variety of involvement our women have on campus. Here are just a few of the activities our women are involved in across our campus and beyond: Intramurals, Panhellenic Council, Order of Omega, Association of Honor Students, Golden Apple, American Marketing Association, Panther Pals, Recruitment Ambassadors, Dorm Hall Council, Pink Panthers, Math Energy Club, and various campus clubs and honoraries. Chapter members have fun playing EIU campus intramurals. For many years the chapter has consistently placed first overall with intramural points. In the fall our chapter participates in activities for EIU Homecoming. In the spring we have fun with Greek Week and love competing in a tug competition and a lip sync dance called “Air Band”. Beta Iota Chapter is proud to be recognized as a Jewel Chapter because we raise over $2,000 annually for the Alpha Gamma Delta Foundation. Our signature event is a 24-hour teeter-totter-athon. Helping organizations and people in need is an integral part of Alpha Gamma Delta. Community service projects include helping with the 5th and 6th grade boys and girls basketball program at Jefferson School and volunteering for the PTA Jefferson Carnival. We support the local and campus food pantries. Members also participate in other fraternity and sorority philanthropy events along with other community service groups and activities.
